Update 21st October

Thursday Aerobics (with Sonya)

Currently there has been limited take-up of the 09.00 class and therefore Sonya has suggested, and it has been agreed, that we put this class on hold until the 10.00 session fills up.

Tai Chi

There will be no Tai Chi classes tomorrow or next week. Ellie’s son has a classmate who has tested positive for Covid-19 so she is rightly playing safe by not holding the class. Tai Chi will resume on Thursday 5th November.

Annual General Meeting

The date for our next Annual General Meeting (AGM) has been changed. As it is intended to hold this using Zoom it seemed appropriate not to hold it on a Tuesday as usual. The new date is Wednesday 25th November at 10.00. We will be sending round information in advance of the meeting on how to use Zoom.

Any items members wish to be added to the agenda must be received by the Honorary Secretary This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by 31st October at the latest.

Membership Fees

There will be a proposal at the AGM to extend the £5 membership fee paid for 2020 to cover 2021 as well, for all those persons who were members at the end of September 2020. New members now join for a calendar year from the date of joining, with £5 membership being collected by EA on the club’s behalf.

Honorary Treasurer

Hugh Woodd gave notice at the last AGM that he would not be standing for the position of Honorary Treasurer again this year. The committee would be delighted to hear from anyone who is interested in filling this role. With the changes brought about as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and the change to Everyone Active (EA) as operator of River Park Leisure Centre the role of Honorary Treasurer has become much less of a task than previously. EA are collecting all of the fees due and are now paying our instructors. If you are interested please let me know at This email address is being protected from spambots. You don’t need to be an accountant!

Committee Vacancy

At today’s committee meeting it was unanimously agreed to co-opt Malcolm Keech (tennis) as a member of the committee. After that we still have one remaining vacancy and we are asking for volunteers prepared to stand at the AGM. Meetings are currently held on a Wednesday afternoon using Zoom and last for about 90 minutes. Don’t be shy.

Tuesday Keep Fit

This will start next Tuesday 27th October with Rhiain and these will be held in the in the upstairs Function Room with space for 9 participants plus the instructor. There will be two separate sessions: 09.45 to 10.30 and 10.45 to 11.30.

Booking

Sessions must be pre-booked and pre-paid using the Everyone Active app or their website. Anyone experiencing difficulty with this process should ‘phone Everyone Active on 01962 848700. You are advised to leave this until after 10.00 because staff availability is limited before this time.

Equipment

As Fitness & Sports sessions potentially start earlier and finish later, plus Covid-19 restrictions, there will no longer be a key duty committee member present during our activities. This means that the equipment will no longer be out in the corner of the sports hall at 10.00. As we can no longer share equipment, there will be no yoga blankets available to use. If you need a blanket please bring your own. If you have your own mat (where required) it is best if you bring that rather than make use of the centre’s equipment.

Calls, shuttles etc are in the end locker with the code 5099. All of this equipment must be sanitised at the end of each session; cleaning equipment is provided within the locker.

Friday Aerobics

This class has made a successful start and there are 2 places left. If you are interested please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and let us know. This will cost £3.50 per session until the end of the calendar year when it will increase to £5.00; this class will be led by Sonya. This is entirely separate from EA.

Refunds for pre-payments

We will be emailing members who we believe are due a refund for prepayment of classes. You will be asked to agree the amount and give bank details for the payment to be made. There could be as many as 140 prepayments to be refunded but we will get around to you all as soon as possible.
